Maddalena, der neben humoristischen Zeichnungen vor allem Entwürfe für Gebrauchsgegenstände (Porzellanwaren usw.) erstellte, ist vor allem für die Illustrationen zu den erfolgreichen Kinderbüchern \"Struwwel-Liese\" und \"Lies und Lene\" bekannt, die ab 1896 in zahlreichen Auflagen erschienen sind." ],
