Dazu bediente er sich der Unterstützung durch Johannes de Lapide, Reuchlin, Sebastian Brant und Beatus Rhenanus. Jeweils ein Exemplar seiner Drucke schenkte er der Basler Kartause, aus der er Handschriften für die Textausgaben heranzog.
